New Home Design

Renos can have a bad reputation.

Clients walk into home renovations armed with horror stories of budget inflation, time delays, decision overload, surprises found in walls, and general relationship testers.

Renos can come with a lot of baggage.

At Laura Grist Interior Design Inc., our team of interior designers has seen it all. We’re here with our over 18 years’ experience to dispel these horror stories. We take your design and details seriously; our expertise allows you to relax, trust us, and enjoy the ride. There will likely be a few hiccups along the way (that one about surprises unearthed after drywall comes down is unfortunately a common one) but we’ll navigate these with you, and for you.

When you work with us, you’ll love your completed space (without the baggage).
Exact quote from a repeat client is “You are in excellent hands with Laura. You can have a life and she’ll get it finished perfectly for you.”

How can We Proclaim THis with Confidence?

Over 80% of our clients are either referrals or returning clients.
And we have over 40 5-star Google reviews and a further 55 5-star reviews on Houzz (plus all 10/10 on HomeStars).
Plus we have a trophy case full of awards.
On top of all that, we love solving your design problems with our good design, working with the trades, suppliers, and contractors we’ve built relationships with, and collaborating together.
And this shows in all of our designs.

Client reviews From Google

Laura and her team were incredible to work with in designing and managing significant renovations to our home.

They were easy to collaborate with and built in my input along the way to match budget and design ideas. Having their expertise took so much of the stress away from the multiple decisions that go into a renovation. They were very responsive to any questions that my contractor had and were available throughout the whole process.

I used Laura’s interior decorator team to help update our dated furniture and décor. They provided a great mix of helping select specific pieces and providing suggestions to integrate some of my old things.

I would definitely recommend Laura Grist Interior Design.

Laura and her team are just the best.

My husband and I have partially renovated six homes and one 2,000 square foot condo down to the studs (very stressful). I’m telling you this so you can rest assured I have had experience with a number of designers, trades and then the last Reno new to us was dealing with strata.

Laura has a  “let’s see how we can get this done“ attitude. She seemed to know more about construction at times than the contractor. He’d say “we can’t do that” and she’d say “you sure, I think we can” and it happened!

Laura and her team are ALL experienced, talented and very creative. She helped us create homes that were gorgeous, and more importantly to us, they felt like they reflected us…not just the latest fad.

Technically, not one error in measurements, kept the trades on schedule and mediated a few “disagreements“ between contractors and various trades. !!

Excellent communicator. In terms of cost, not one surprise for us in paying more than we expected for any purchases …

You are in excellent hands with Laura. You can have a life and she’ll get it finished perfectly for you.

The following land acknowledgment is dedicated to Mary Courtepatte of the Michel Band, a Residential School Survivor who lost her childhood, George Vickery, son of a Residential School Survivor who never had the opportunity to embrace his culture, and Laura Grist, Mary’s granddaughter, who carries their memories and strives for a better future.

We wish to acknowledge that our business operates on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), qiqéyt (Qayqayt), and Stó:lō (Sto:lo) Peoples.  At Laura Grist Interior Design, we acknowledge that Indigenous Peoples have endured significant hardships under colonial and postcolonial laws and policies. We commit ourselves to ongoing learning about the rich history of the traditional lands our office occupies.

At Laura Grist Interior Design Inc. we firmly believe in acknowledging the lands and their traditional names. Acknowledging the ongoing truths of historical events and refraining from discussing Indigenous Peoples in the past tense is vital to preventing a perpetuated disconnection from their current realities, fostering cultural appreciation, recognizing territorial rights, and supporting truth and reconciliation efforts. We understand that overlooking the present existence of Indigenous Peoples can contribute to denying them their rights. Therefore, we are committed to challenging systems of oppression that have dispossessed Indigenous people from their lands and denied their rights.
